Parity Project Highlight Video
OUR MISSION / THE SOLUTION
The Parity Project is a national and unified call to action to level the playing field by achieving parity for Black America by the year 2030. Achieving parity means reaching a minimum of 13.4% African American representation (on par with African Americans being approximately 13.4% of the population) in each of the target areas. We are starting with four target areas for our first 10-year (by 2030) goal, which include:
- 13.4% of STEM degrees
- 13.4% of STEM Jobs
- 13.4% of Private Equity / Venture Capital Funded Entrepreneurs
- 13.4% of Fortune 500 Corporate Board of Directors
OUR APPROACH
To meet our goal of achieving economic parity for Black America, we are:
Calling for a nationally unified, singular target for success with individual execution plans focused on measurable results.
Leveraging and integrating our collective power and resources
Calling for accountability and rewarding transparency
- Asking Federal, state, and city governments to make the “We Want Parity” pledge and to establish and or support programs and initiatives that drive towards the achievement of the 2030 goals in their jurisdiction
- Asking CEO’s and boards of directors of the largest US companies to make the “We Want Parity” pledge and to establish and or support programs and initiatives that drive towards the achievement of the 2030 goals within their company and within the communities where they do business.
- Asking public pension funds and endowments to be intentional in the selection of their private equity and venture capital investment fund managers with a goal towards achieving at least 13.4% of their fund managers having African American representation at the general partner and C-suite leadership level.
- We will work with our research partners to publish annual Parity Project progress reports with a focus on promoting the positive progress that companies, states and cities are making towards achieving the 2030 Parity Project goals.
